Name, also known as tropical yam, is grown throughout the tropics as well as West Africa, China, Korea, the South Pacific, India and the Caribbean. Yams are often mistakenly called sweet potatoes, and vice versa, but they are two different vegetables. Name is often considered a festival food in Cuba. It is shaped like a long sweet potato. It has a nutty flavor with a slightly chewy texture similar to a potato. Name can be baked, boiled, steamed, scalloped, fried or creamed.
