01 Sep MARKET REPORT – September 1, 2024
Seasons are changing quickly, but we still have plenty of time left in Stone fruit season.
Andy’s Orchard has finished out their season and we are not expecting them this week.
JJ Lone as a reminder is on her seasonal break and will return in a couple of months.
Regier Farms will have at least 2 more weeks of yellow peaches possibly 3 before they bow out until they return with Tangerines a few months later.
Scott Farms now has Asian pears available
Scott also has Chocolate Persimmons listed (So far nobody else has persimmons, Briar patch is at least a month out from theirs)
Chocolate persimmons are a non-astringent variety unlike a typical haychia.
Polito Farms is finally beginning their Adriatic fig harvest, but expect it to be limited this season.
Sadly Murray farms fig season is mostly over and I would not expect much availability from them if any this week.
On another sad note Murray Farms IFG grape season will be coming to a close. Product will be limited this week except for their true Concords (with seeds). Unfortunately there was a freeze event while the vines were flowering, so they lost a lot of crop this year.
Jimmy Nardello peppers continue to be very short in the farmers market. Some plants were put in too late and with the shortening days it is taking much longer for things to ripen correctly.
