Specialty Fruit

General Information

Mandarins include a diverse group of citrus fruits that are characterized by bright peel and pulp color, excellent flavor, easy-to-peel rind and segments that separate easily.

Murcott is believed to be a tangor of unknown origin that resulted from the breeding program of the U.S.D.A. prior to about 1916. The fruit is usually flattened with a thin, smooth, orange rind that is easy to peel. The flesh is orange-colored and juicy. The flavor of Murcott is excellent, ranking with the top citrus fruits in flavor and quality for eating out-of-hand.
